“The Funeral of River Song” I’ll be pretty bummed out. There’s still plenty of room for some River adventures.

It’s good to have passionate fans. When people speak out that just lets you know that they care about the product you are putting out. But in the case of Ultimate Spider-Man it just boils down to hatred with some people.
I’m going to be so bold as to say that Spider-Man is probably Marvel’s most popular character. He’s now been around for 50 years, had multiple animated series’ and four big screen films with a fifth on the way. Out of all ways Spider-Man has been adapted, it seems as though people hate the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon even more than Spider-Man 3. If you’ve ever seen Spider-Man 3, you know that’s saying a lot. Change is something that the general public doesn’t take well to. At all.
Not a lot was known about Ultimate Spider-Man when it was announced. But it didn’t help the fact that Spectacular Spider-Man had been canceled so this could be made and that’s where a lot of the hate is coming from. I can’t relate to that, as I’ve never watch Spectacular, but I know where people are coming from. Ultimate Spider-Man is probably the most different Spidey show that’s ever been on the air. Every one before had some serious story lines but Ultimate just wants to have fun.
The viewers should be able to sit down and have fun as well. When I first started watching this, I’ll admit I did chuckle but it was different and I was still getting used to it. Then there came a point when Spidey shouted out an absolutely hilarious line “Pew pew guns? I love pew pew guns!” and I fell in love with the show. I watch a lot of television and most of it is dark and broody. I then realized that I don’t need this show to be cartoons for adults. I can sit back and have a great time with it being aimed at a younger audience. If people want more of what came before then they can certainly go back and re-watch it all. Heck, I’d like to as well. The 90’s series is one of my all-time favourite superhero cartoons and where I get the voices to a lot of characters when I read Spider-Man comics.
If anything, I’d just like people to give it a chance. It’s not going to kill you if you sit down and watch a few episodes. I hope the show lasts for a couple of more years, I’d like to see this version of Spidey grow up and see if the fourth wall stuff would evolve with that.
What do tumblr folks have to say about Ultimate Spider-Man?
After a few weeks hiatus I’m back and ready to talk comics!
Pick of the Week: Batman #16
As the end of Death of the Family draws near, Scott Snyder is really amping things up in the creep department. I love how the Joker thinks of Batman as the king of Arkham and gets a bunch of the other villains to play along with his ruse. Greg Capullo brings everything to this issue and I have a feeling that #17 is going to showcase more gruesome events.
Batgirl is hardcore! I love all of that anger and hate that she has towards the Joker. He’s the man who changed her life and she wants revenge. I also love seeing that internal struggle because if he pushes her far enough she’ll actually consider killing him. Gail Simone is phenomenal and I’m looking forward to seeing how it all leads to Batman #17.
All-New X-Men #6
Anyone who knows me, knows that I love me some Kitty Pryde. She’s my favourite Marvel character of all time and in the last issue she took responsibility for the Original Five. Like the cover for the issue suggests, she’s taken the Professor Xavier role and doing a damn fine job at mentoring the group. All of Kitty’s scenes teaching Jean how to control her powers are absolutely great. I hope going into future issues that we see Kitty working with the other members as well.
